No boats. Soft mornings. Nap-friendly afternoons. Every day has an easy fallback in case she's tired. The goal is joy — not a checklist.

Friday
Repulse Bay & Slow Farewell
The strategy: Big days (Disneyland, TST) mid-week so there's recovery time. Gentle bookends on Monday and Friday. If anyone needs a rest day, the DB bike circuit and North Plaza are always there. No boat, no stress.

Discovery Bay Local Day

Monday · Settle In, Explore Home
🚲 Easy
🚲Bike Ride Around DB
Rent bikes at DB Plaza (multiple rental shops nearby). Ride the promenade past Tai Pak Beach up toward Siena Avenue. Electric bikes available for adults. The paths are flat, car-free, and perfect for a four-year-old on a balance bike or seat attachment. Stop at the small playground near the beach.
No transit needed Perfect for 4yo
🏖️Tai Pak Beach Playground
Right next to DB Plaza. Small sandy beach, gentle water, a playground with slides. Let her run and get comfortable. Buy a snack from the café facing the water. No agenda needed — this is recovery time as much as fun.
Free Toddler heaven
🛍️DB Plaza & D'Deck Lunch
Walk back to DB Plaza. Lunch at D'Deck — outdoor al fresco restaurants with sea views. Then explore the ice rink (she can watch even if not skating), Wing On, and the Sunday market area for stalls. Low-key, walkable, no commute stress.
🧁Siena Village & North Plaza Wander
Bus or walk north to DB North Plaza — it's quieter, more European-feeling. There's a massive indoor playroom (Jumpabout) that's one of the largest in HK. Great option if the weather turns or she needs structured play. Wellcome supermarket for any provisions.
Great for 4yo
Why Monday is DB-only: They just arrived. Don't rush. Let her find her feet, meet the neighbourhood, and settle before the bigger days. Your brother gets fresh air and easy conversation while she plays.

Ngong Ping & Big Buddha

Tuesday · Lantau Magic
🪷 Scenic
🚌Getting There — Bus to Sunny Bay MTR
From DB, take the DB bus toward Sunny Bay MTR (Bus B4 or the direct Sunny Bay service — check NWFB/DB bus schedule). At Sunny Bay, take Disneyland Resort Line one stop to Disneyland station (or stay at Sunny Bay and take Tung Chung Line to Tung Chung).
🏠
DB Bus Terminal → Sunny Bay MTR (~25 min)
M
Tung Chung Line → Tung Chung station (~12 min)
🚡
Walk to Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car terminal (5 min)
🚡Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car
Book tickets in advance on http://klook.com or the Ngong Ping 360 website. Choose the standard cabin for a four-year-old (the Crystal glass-floor cabin may be frightening). The 25-minute ride over mountains and sea is genuinely spectacular. She'll love looking at the planes landing at the airport below. Opens 10am weekdays.
Book in advance — beats queues
🪷Ngong Ping Village & Tian Tan Buddha
Walk through the village, see the giant Tian Tan (Big) Buddha. You can see it perfectly from the base — the 268 steps to the top are optional and quite hard for a toddler. Po Lin Monastery is right there, incense burning, colourful, completely otherworldly for a child from Taipei.
Grounds free Easy flat walking
🍜Lunch at Ngong Ping Village
Several restaurants in the village including a vegetarian monastery restaurant. Pick something simple. Afterward, browse the Ngong Ping souvenir shops — good chance to buy a toy or small Buddha figurine for her.
🛍️Tung Chung Citygate Outlets (optional)
On the way back, Citygate Outlets is right at Tung Chung station — a massive outlet mall. Great if your brother wants to shop. Easy stop before taking the MTR back to Sunny Bay and the DB bus home. Or skip and head straight home if she's tired.
Tip: Leave Ngong Ping by 2:30pm to avoid afternoon cable car queues on the return. The ride back is equally beautiful — get seats on the left side facing the sea on the way down.
03

Kowloon · TST & Science Museum

Wednesday · City Day
🔬 Urban
🚌Getting There — Bus to Dongchong, then MTR
Take the DB bus to Tung Chung (Dongchong) MTR station. Then take the Tung Chung Line to Hong Kong station, then Airport Express or transfer to Tsuen Wan Line toward Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) station.
🏠
DB Bus → Tung Chung MTR (~30 min)
M
Tung Chung Line → Hong Kong Station
M
Transfer: Tsuen Wan Line → Tsim Sha Tsui (~25 min)
🔬Hong Kong Science Museum
On Science Museum Road, TST East — a 10-min walk from TST station. Genuinely one of the best kid museums in Asia. Huge interactive exhibits, a giant marble run, dinosaur displays, electricity demonstrations. Closed Thursdays. Budget 2--3 hours. Adults love it too. Entry is only ~$20--40 HKD.
Interactive — great for 4yo Air-conditioned
🌊Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront Promenade
Walk the Avenue of Stars along the Kowloon waterfront. The Hong Kong Island skyline across the water is one of the world's great urban views. Ice cream vendors along the promenade. She can run and explore safely. Bruce Lee statue for photos.
Free
🚌Hop-On Hop-Off Bus (Optional)
The Big Bus Hong Kong departs near the TST Star Ferry pier. The open-top double-decker is genuinely fun for a child. Kowloon route covers Mong Kok, the harbour views, and back. She'll love being up top. Day passes available. Great if your brother wants to see Kowloon without navigating the MTR.
🍢Temple Street or Canton Road for Dinner
Early dinner in TST before heading back. Canton Road has a huge range of restaurants from hot pot to dim sum. Or head to iSquare / K11 Musea food halls for something easier with a tired four-year-old. Then MTR back to Tung Chung and DB bus home.
Science Museum note: Check it's not closed for a special event. The giant energy machine (marble run) is the highlight — worth checking if it's running before you go. The museum is small enough that it won't overwhelm her but big enough for 2 hours of genuine wonder.
04

Hong Kong Disneyland

Thursday · The Big Day
🏰 Magic
🚌Getting There — Sunny Bay, then Disney Line
This is the easiest transit day of the whole week. Disneyland has its own MTR line.
🏠
DB Bus → Sunny Bay MTR (~25 min)
Disneyland Resort Line → Disneyland station (2 min — the train has Mickey Mouse windows)
🏰
Walk 5 min to park entrance
🏰Hong Kong Disneyland
Buy tickets in advance on the HK Disneyland website or Klook — cheaper and skips queues. For a 4-year-old, the best areas are Fantasyland (It's a Small World, Dumbo), Toy Story Land, and Adventure Isle. The park is compact — you can cover the right bits in one day without exhausting her. Character meet-and-greets (Mickey, Minnie) are the highlight at this age. Download the official app for wait times.
Absolute highlight for a 4yo
💡Toddler Disneyland Tips
• Arrive right at opening (9:30am) — first 2 hours are the least crowded
• Build in a 1--2 hour "quiet break" after lunch — find shade or a café
• Fantasyland rides are all appropriate for her age, Tomorrowland rides less so
• The Festival of the Lion King show and Mickey's PhilharMagic are seated indoor shows — perfect rest breaks
• She may lose steam by 4pm; that's fine — the evening is for you to take it easy
Honest note: This will be the most expensive day of the week and also almost certainly the most memorable for her. A Taiwanese 4-year-old at Disneyland seeing Mickey Mouse in person — that's a core memory. Worth every dollar.
05

Repulse Bay & Slow Farewell

Friday · Gentle Send-Off
🌊 Chill
🚌Getting There — Bus to Dongchong MTR, then bus to Repulse Bay
Slightly more routing but totally doable.
🏠
DB Bus → Tung Chung MTR
M
Tung Chung Line → Hong Kong Station
🚌
Bus 6, 6A, or 260 from Exchange Square Bus Terminal → Repulse Bay (~35 min along the scenic southern route)
🌊Repulse Bay Beach
One of Hong Kong's most beautiful urban beaches. Clean water, calm bay, lifeguards on duty. The kids' playground right on the beach is lovely. The water is calm and warm enough in late April. She can paddle and play in the sand. There are restaurants and a 7-Eleven right at the beach. The Repulse Bay building with its distinctive hole is across the road — very photogenic.
Beach is free Perfect final day activity Calm water
🍽️Lunch at The Verandah or Beach Cafés
The Verandah at the Repulse Bay complex is iconic — colonial Hong Kong atmosphere, afternoon tea feel. A bit indulgent but a lovely treat for your last family lunch together. Alternatively the casual restaurants along the beachfront are cheaper and fine with a sandy child.
🏯Optional: Tin Hau Temple & Repulse Bay Statues
A short walk east along the beach leads to a colourful Tin Hau (goddess of the sea) temple with giant statues of fortune gods. It's free, genuinely fascinating, and very child-friendly — she can walk among the big stone figures. Very distinctly Hong Kong.
Free
🌆Head Back via Aberdeen or Stanley (Optional)
The same bus route passes through Aberdeen (floating restaurants, harbour views) and Stanley (waterfront market, casual expat pubs). Worth a quick stop if energy allows before heading back to Tung Chung and home.
The point of today: It's a soft landing. After Disneyland Thursday, nobody needs another big day. Repulse Bay is beautiful, easy, and gives your brother and his daughter something genuinely calm and Hong Kong-feeling to carry home to Taiwan.

Getting Around

Transit Reference for the Week
🚌Discovery Bay → Sunny Bay MTR
Take DB Bus B4 (direct to Sunny Bay). Runs regularly. ~25 min. Use this for: Disneyland (Thursday), Ngong Ping (Tuesday — then MTR to Tung Chung).
🚌Discovery Bay → Tung Chung (Dongchong) MTR
Take DB Bus B6 or the direct Tung Chung service. ~30 min. Use this for: TST/Kowloon (Wednesday), Repulse Bay (Friday), Ngong Ping 360 cable car (Tuesday alternative).
🚇Key MTR Connections
Tung Chung Line: Tung Chung ↔ Hong Kong Station (Central)

Disneyland Resort Line: Sunny Bay ↔ Disneyland (2 min, very cute train)

Tsuen Wan Line: From Central/Hong Kong → Tsim Sha Tsui (TST)

Tip: Get an Octopus card for your brother — tap in/out on buses and MTR, no need to buy tickets each time. Available at any MTR station customer service.
📱Book Ahead: Ngong Ping & Disneyland
Both should be booked in advance. Klook.com is the easiest — usually slightly cheaper than booking directly and you bypass most of the ticketing queues. The Science Museum is walk-in, no booking needed.
🌤️Weather & Timing
Late April in HK is warm (~24--28°C), occasionally overcast or drizzly. Pack a compact umbrella or poncho especially for Disneyland. The Science Museum and Disneyland are both excellent rainy day options. Ngong Ping cable car pauses in high winds or low visibility — if that happens, bus 23 from Tung Chung runs to Ngong Ping as a backup.
🧒Surviving Transit with a 4-Year-Old
• Bring a small backpack for her with snacks, a water bottle, and one comfort item
• MTR is air-conditioned and very stroller/buggy friendly
• DB buses have seatbelts in some seats — sit near the front
• Build in 30 min buffer on each journey — HK transit is reliable but toddlers aren't
• The Octopus card works on the bus — tap on, no coins needed
The one rule: If she's overwhelmed, any day can become a DB stay-at-home day. The bike ride, Tai Pak Beach, and North Plaza are always there. The best itinerary is the one that leaves everyone smiling — not the one that gets ticked off completely.
